2027 Micromobility Helmet Safety Contest
2027 Distracted Driving Awareness Contest
Eyes on the Road. Hands on the Wheel. Lives on the Line.
Win up to $125 and earn 25 community service hours!
Dori Saves Lives is excited to announce the 2027 Distracted Driving Awareness Contest, inviting Florida students in grades 8–12 to use their creativity, imagination, and voices to help prevent distracted driving and save lives.
Every day, drivers face distractions that can take their attention away from the road. From texting and scrolling through social media to adjusting music or simply not paying attention, even a moment of distraction can have life-changing consequences.
We want students to help change that.
Whether you're passionate about graphic design, drawing, painting, sculpture, filmmaking, or creating something completely unexpected, this is your opportunity to make a difference.
Your project can be bold, funny, emotional, dramatic, educational, or thought-provoking. We want to see your unique perspective!
The goal is simple: Create something that grabs attention, encourages drivers to stay focused, and inspires safer decisions behind the wheel.
The Creative Challenge
Create an original artwork, graphic design, or video that communicates a meaningful message about the dangers of distracted driving.
You may explore topics such as:
- Texting and driving
- Social media distractions behind the wheel
- The dangers of looking away from the road
- Phone notifications and other digital distractions
- Eating, adjusting music, or multitasking while driving
- The importance of staying alert and focused
- How passengers can encourage safer driving
- The consequences of distracted driving for families and communities
- Any other creative concept that encourages distraction-free driving
Think outside the box! Your project does not have to be a traditional safety poster or educational video. We encourage creativity, humor, storytelling, emotional impact, and original ideas that make people stop and think.
Accepted Creative Formats
Students may submit:
- Graphic Design: Digital illustrations, posters, typography, infographics, and original digital artwork.
- Drawing & Painting: Hand-drawn illustrations, paintings, and mixed-media artwork.
- Sculpture & 3D Art: Original sculptures, models, and three-dimensional creations.
- Video PSA: Original short videos that encourage drivers to stay focused and avoid distractions.
- Other Creative Visual Art: Unique artistic concepts that communicate a clear distracted driving prevention message.
For physical artwork, students must submit clear photographs of their completed work.
Recommended Video Length: Approximately 60 seconds.
Videos may be slightly shorter or longer if needed to communicate the message effectively. Creativity, clarity, and impact matter more than an exact runtime.
Students may use smartphones, cameras, or other recording equipment. Professional equipment is not required.
Optional Creative Inspiration: Waymo
Interested in how technology can help create safer roads?
Students are welcome to explore how autonomous driving technology, including Waymo, may help address certain risks associated with human driving behavior.
Projects may incorporate verified safety statistics, creative transportation concepts, or ideas about how technology and responsible decision-making can contribute to safer communities.
Waymo is a proud sponsor of Dori Saves Lives. Including Waymo in your project is completely optional and will not provide any advantage during judging.
Students are also encouraged to incorporate the Dori Saves Lives logo into their artwork or video to help spread awareness of our mission.
