Ways To Give

Affected Families Share Their Stories

Dori Saves Lives is always looking for affected family members who are in a healthy place in their healing process and may want to share their personal story of loss. We work with affected family members to help them craft their story into something more than just a heartbreaking tale of loss. We provide them with tools to most effectively connect with people on an emotional level while simultaneously conveying traffic safety messaging. We partner with family members who have been seriously injured or who have lost a loved one in a preventable crash in a number of ways, and offer trainings so that they may choose the avenue of involvement that most appeals to them.

  • Speaking to Community Representatives
  • Dori Saves Lives offers ongoing support through phone calls, emails, and video conferencing to help family members gain confidence in sharing their messages effectively.

We help ensure that the shared narrative is more than just a sad story, and that it moves participants to change their attitudes and behavior. Over the course of time, family members are exposed to what public presentations may be like, how best to prepare for them, and best practices for sharing their tragedy with others so that a lesson is left behind from which other young people can learn.

Research shows that emotional appeal has more influence over teens’ long-term behavior than graphic gore, so Dori Saves Lives connects with teens on a visceral level by using stories of real teens and their families. Rather than trying to scare teens, we empower teens to make good decisions, and provide the information and tools for them to share the message with their peers. It is our vision that through this education process, a shift in the collective mindset will ultimately change the culture of driving, thereby saving lives not only in this generation of drivers, but in all future generations of drivers.
