Chairman Slosberg Speaks on the Future of Traffic Safety
On August 26, Chairman Irv Slosberg, his Chief of Staff, and team attended the Community Traffic Safety Team (CTST) Meeting in Palm Beach County. Chairman Slosberg spoke about the mission of Dori Saves Lives and emphasized the critical role that driverless taxis and autonomous vehicles will play in shaping the future of traffic safety in Florida.
“The way to reduce fatalities is through technology,” Slosberg told the group, citing safety impact reports, which show dramatic reductions in crashes compared with human drivers.
According to local, certified statistics:
- Driverless taxis had 80% fewer injury-involved crashes compared with human drivers.
- They reported 93% fewer pedestrian crashes with injuries.
- There were 82% fewer collisions involving cyclists and motorcyclists.
- Overall, there was a 96% reduction in crashes with reported injuries.
The Chairman also expressed concern about the persistently high crash and fatality rates in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville, underscoring the urgent need for innovation. He highlighted how autonomous vehicle technology could be a game-changer for these regions and save thousands of lives each year.
